For those who want much longer parking-mode - up to 30 hours - check out our dash cam battery packs. For me the Power Magic Pro gives you enough power for light everyday use.Ī professional installer is recommended but if you're reasonably handy, comfortable with car electrical wiring, and take your time you can add this (and be able to non-destructively remove it later) to your car with just some additional fuse taps and fuses. With the BlackVue Power Magic Pro, the average vehicle will be able to supply about 6-8 hours of parking-mode duration (this number is solely dependent on the battery’s size, condition, etc.) before the voltage cutoff kicks in. The module has settable time and voltage cutoffs so your camera(s) won't drain your car battery and leave you stranded.įor longer operation, Blackvue also sell the Cellink-B Battery Pack which is an inline rechargeable battery, but it comes at a premium price (~$308.00). When put in that perspective to me it makes sense to be able to record footage while you're parked. End result, a $500 excess to fix the damage that wasn't our fault.Ī Power Magic Pro with a decent 2 channel dashcam like the Blackvue DR650S-2CH costs not a lot more than that and could have recorded the hit & run driver's details. While she was at work my wife's car was 'remodelled' in a carpark by a driver who didn't leave details. So I highly recommend this product for hardwiring your Blackvue Dashcam (not sure if it works with other brands, but can't see any real reason why it wouldn't - however, do your research and talk to Strathfield Car Radio about that).ĥ Great insurance against parking hit & runs. Since installation a week ago, the Power Magic Pro has worked flawlessly, allowing the camera to record in Parking Mode with ignition off, but switching to direct power when ignition is on. I recommend you use fuse taps to connect the Power Magic Pro to the fuseboard - bought those off eBay. Hardwiring the camera with the Power Magic Pro was straightforward, following the instructions and a couple of YouTube videos I found for my specific vehicle (2017 VW Tiguan Mk2). I bought the Power Magic Pro to install with the Blackvue DR750S Dashcam as I had a recent experience of my car being damaged in a carpark and want to use Parking Mode from now on. The only reason I rated 4 stars for the Blackvue PMP was due to the short length of wires connecting the unit to my Pajero Sport internal fuses.
